cake toppers

cake toppers

creating cake toppers as a free lance molder has given me the opportunity to create some weird and wonderful peaces such as the cakes bellow.

slytherin harry potter cake

working on this slytherin harry potter cake with the basilic was alot of fun aspeshaly as you can eat the basilic made or purely icing with no added ingredients except for the coloring. the added shine came from shaping the icing. as I've had comments asking if it was coated or plastic.

nightmare before Christmas cake

this nightmare before Christmas cake figures were made with oven bake clay called Fimo good for creating the intricate detail on the individual details. only problem i had with this product was the weight of it all even with wiring it was still hard to control them standing thus i had to change the positions of the figures to sitting down. in all it was a good product but the weight let it down over all unless you are to cook a figure in peaces then glue it together. but this is still to be tested at a later date.

dragon cake topper

the dragon cake topper was made of pure icing except for the horns witch had tooth picks in to keep the balance when on show tooth picks were also added to the wings as well. the icing was lased with tylose a thinking agent that would allow the icing to set more quickly this was needed as due to the heat that day the icing had become more sticky and harder to control at the time. when the tylose was added it docent sink in strate away witch causes even grater loss of control of the icing until it contains the right consistency to become more moldebal.

hong kong fuey

hong kong fuey is my most resent of work created with icing tylose and tooth picks to keep the structural integrity as with him standing the icing needed to set quickly in place so that it would keep its shape even on top of the cake. this was a fun project as hong kong fuey being a iconic cartoon character i felt it was only right to do him justice.
